A selection of last night's police activity.
Eight people have been taken into custody for drunkenness and one person has been taken in for testing after suspicion of a narcotics crime. The police have also carried out a number of checks on people and vehicles that have not resulted in any crime suspicion.
Here follows a selection of the night's events:
01:45 Violent resistance, Skellefteå
Police go to a pub in central Skellefteå where a bouncer has taken a drunk man into custody. The police take the man into custody with the support of the law on the taking into custody of intoxicated persons (LOB). The man is suspected of violent resistance against both the bouncer and the police.
A wild animal accident in Täfteå, Umeå municipality, has been reported to the police during the night. There are no reports of personal injuries.
Summary of the police's work during the rally competition in Umeå
The special sections were well-attended despite the cold, a number of cars and motorcycles were checked and all drivers were sober. A few speeding fines were issued, six of which were to rally drivers.
At the Röda Ladan area, it was quiet until around 21-22. According to the police on duty, the intoxication level was quite high then. Two people were taken into custody with the support of the law on the taking into custody of intoxicated persons (LOB), some were refused/removed and two reports were made regarding assault and a crime against the knife law.
The traffic situation in Haga-rondellen was still problematic as many stopped for boarding and alighting in the middle of the road.
There will be a lot of people and traffic during the event, especially in central Umeå and at the arena area. Therefore, expect occasional limited traffic flow and longer travel times. There are things you as a visitor can do to contribute to a safer traffic environment, for example, follow the organizer's instructions regarding parking and take the buses that go to the arena and other sections. The police will also continue to work with traffic surveillance on the road and in terrain to prevent accidents and traffic disruptions.
