In recent times, there have been a few thefts of equipment from forestry machines in Dalarna with the risk of it spreading to adjacent counties.

It is about GPS, computer, driver's seat and other things that have to do with the vehicle's computer technology. This equipment is very theft-prone.

Thefts have occurred in Eldforsen and Dala-Järna in Vansbro municipality during the middle of November and the weekend of 6-7 December.

At suspicion of preparation for a crime or ongoing crime regarding your vehicle, you should call 112. State in the conversation that you are the owner of a vehicle of this model, and that you have received targeted information from the police about the increased risk of theft. Be aware of your surroundings.

Avoid if possible leaving the vehicle unattended.

Park the vehicle on a well-lit and secured location when it is not in use. Preferably in a locked and alarmed garage. Alternatively, on a location where the vehicle is difficult to locate from the adjacent road network.

Always store the key in a safe place and, if possible, remove theft-prone equipment after the work shift. Store the equipment on a secure location.

DNA marking of GPS equipment does not prevent direct theft but increases the chance of tracing and finding the equipment if it has been stolen. Make sure to have the serial number of the equipment available. It makes tracing easier if the equipment is found.

If you have seen someone or something in connection with a theft.

Note the number of people, appearance, and other identification.

Have the suspected individuals used their own vehicle in connection with the theft, note the type of vehicle, registration number, and other details.

If possible and you do not put yourself in danger, take a photo or film if you see something suspicious.
