Swedish Companies Registration Office

Registers companies and their names, from limited companies to sole traders who want protection for their name.

Bolagsverket

What it handles: registering limited companies, trading partnerships and other business forms, company names, annual reports of limited companies, and company information that anyone can look up.

How to reach it: registrations are usually made through the joint e-service at verksamt.se, which also handles F-tax with Skatteverket. Bolagsverket answers by phone and email, and is based in Sundsvall.

Where people get stuck: to register as a sole trader you need a Swedish personal identity number or coordination number, and you still have to apply for F-tax with Skatteverket. Bolagsverket's own fees are on its website.
