About the job

Are you an experienced software engineer looking to lead through technical expertise, mentorship, and collaboration – while continuing to develop hands-on software? For Alfa Laval's IoT Development Team, we are now looking for a Technical Lead to drive the development of scalable IoT solutions for Alfa Laval's global product portfolio!

About the role

In this role, you will be part of a collaborative IoT development team, serving as the technical anchor and guide for engineers while turning business requirements into scalable cloud solutions.

Alfa Laval contributes to a more sustainable future through technical innovation. The company's solutions help customers improve efficiency across industries such as marine, energy, water treatment, food production, and pharmaceuticals.

Alfa Laval's IoT solutions enable remote support, data visualization, and performance analytics for industrial machinery. By analyzing data in real time, the systems help global customers optimize operations and regulatory compliance, reduce unplanned downtime, and lower their environmental footprint. Alfa Laval offers a collaborative and inclusive environment where employees are encouraged to take initiative, share ideas, and turn innovations into reality.

You are Offered

  • Global Impact within IoT: The opportunity to build advanced IoT solutions that connect industrial machinery and are used worldwide.
  • International Collaboration: Extensive collaboration with international teams and global stakeholders in an open, non-hierarchical environment.
  • Long-Term Development: Strong opportunities for technical growth, broader architecture responsibilities, and flexible career paths within a world-leading industrial group.
  • Flexibility & Balance: A collaborative work environment with a hybrid setup (based in either Flemingsberg or Lund) and a healthy work-life balance.

Work tasks

As Technical Lead in one of the IoT Development Teams, you will work closely with developers, Product Owners, Delivery Leads, business stakeholders, and DevOps teams to translate business needs into robust, dependable technical solutions. The role entails end-to-end responsibility for technical design, implementation, and estimation, while remaining actively engaged in hands-on software development and coaching the team forward. Your primary responsibilities:

  • Lead technical design, solution definition, and estimation activities, translating business requirements into scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, testing practices, and the promotion of engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate across teams and stakeholders to align solutions, manage dependencies, and ensure efficient delivery.
  • Support the full software development lifecycle, including implementation, deployment, maintenance, and operational handover.
  • Remain actively involved in hands-on software development and technical problem solving, contributing where your expertise provides the greatest value.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for performance, usability, maintainability, stability, and cybersecurity.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has extensive software development experience with a strong focus on C# and .NET / .NET Core.
  • Has experience designing scalable backend systems and APIs for distributed environments.
  • Has practical experience with cloud development, primarily in Microsoft Azure (experience with AWS or GCP is also valued), as well as containerization with Docker.
  • Has experience in technical mentorship – you enjoy guiding other developers, conducting code reviews, and establishing engineering best practices within an agile team.
  • Is fully proficient in English, both spoken and written (corporate and team language).

It is meritorious if you have

  • Experience in IoT and Telemetry: Hands-on work with connected devices, industrial monitoring, edge computing, or time-series databases (e.g., TimescaleDB, InfluxDB).
  • Broader Architectural Expertise: Familiarity with microservices, distributed system design, or event-driven architecture.
  • DevOps & Tooling: Experience with DevOps practices, automated deployments, Azure DevOps, Linux-based environments, or scripting languages (e.g., Python).
  • Frontend Understanding: Basic familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as Angular.

To succeed in the role, your personal skills are:

  • Supportive
  • Goal oriented
  • Orderly
  • Stable
  • Responsible
  • Assertive
