Wood Technology Teacher

We are looking for a teacher for courses in wood technology. The teaching will cover courses in wood technology, but courses in CAD and CNC may also be included.
As a Wood Technology Teacher, you will:
· be responsible for all teaching in wood technology and related subjects. This involves teaching students about different woodworking methods, tool handling and safety regulations. The teaching includes both theoretical and practical elements, and you should be competent in both.
· also act as a resource and guide, helping students develop both the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to succeed in the woodworking industry
· provide students with basic training on the machines, for example, jointers and thickness planers, crosscut and rip saws, table routers, sanding machines, etc.
· plan, prepare and deliver lessons in accordance with the instructions and applicable regulations from our client, as well as our internal guidelines and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Teacher training is an advantage but not a requirement. You should have a relevant qualification in the field, or two years of work experience in the relevant industry during the past 5-year period. Knowledge of CAD and CNC is an advantage.
You should have solid knowledge and experience in the areas of machine woodworking and the timber industry. You should also be familiar with commonly used woodworking machines such as panel saws, jointers and thickness planers, sanding machines, etc. You should also have a good knowledge of materials, including the properties of wood and different types of sheet material.
As a teacher, you will plan and deliver training and follow up on participants’ learning. The teaching role requires you to be a confident leader with a solution-oriented approach, engaging, challenging and creative. You can adapt to changing circumstances and do not just see the problems that arise, but actively contribute to solutions by offering ideas and alternatives and showing flexibility. You communicate constructively and handle conflicts effectively. With a positive attitude, you act in accordance with decisions, policies and guidelines, as you take a broad view and always consider what is best for the organisation in your actions and decisions.
