Vocational Teacher, Electrical Engineering

Hermods adult education centre in Östersund offers two distance-learning courses in electrical engineering: Service and Installation Electrician, and Alarm and Security Technician. In your role as a teacher on these courses, you will be responsible for planning, delivering and following up on teaching, as well as assessing and grading students’ knowledge. An important part of the role is following up on students’ workplace-based learning (APL) and maintaining good contacts with employers. You will work closely with students and ensure a clear link between theory and practice. The role may also include teaching vocational mathematics.

The theoretical teaching takes place remotely through lectures on Teams, alongside independent work for students on the Learnweare learning platform. The practical components are carried out on site at Hermods’ premises in central Östersund 2-3 times per term. You will be part of a team of 9 people, consisting of teachers and administrators. There is the possibility of working remotely part of the time.

We are primarily looking for someone who is a qualified and licensed vocational teacher in electrical engineering, but applicants with other relevant skills are also welcome. It is important that you have professional experience as an electrician, and it is an advantage if you still have a foot in the industry. As the course is delivered remotely, you need to be confident using computers.

The position is permanent and can be adjusted to 60 -100%.
