🚀 We are looking for a Senior HVDC Specialist, High-Voltage Systems, Control & Testing
Hykmann Global Business Solutions AB is looking for an experienced HVDC specialist for a qualified, long-term consultancy assignment with an internationally renowned client in the energy and electricity infrastructure sector.
Do you have in-depth technical expertise in HVDC systems and experience of control systems, relay protection, automation systems and technical testing? You will have a key role in completing and assuring the quality of advanced high-voltage installations, with responsibility for technical reviews, delivery follow-up and coordination between the client and suppliers.
We are looking for someone who combines specialist expertise in electrical power engineering with a structured approach and the ability to drive technical issues in complex project environments.
📍 Location: Göteborg, Sundbyberg or Västerås
🏠 Working model: Mainly remote work, up to 90 % by agreement
📅 Assignment period: 1 March 2027 – 31 December 2028
🔄 Extension: Possibility of three options, each for one year

🎯 About the assignment
As a Senior HVDC Specialist, you will be a technical expert in high-voltage direct current and advanced converter stations. You will support the project organisation with technical issues during the final phases of design, delivery and testing, and contribute specialist expertise to investigations into disturbances and technical faults.
You will act as an important link between plant suppliers, project management and other technical specialists. Your assignment is to ensure that designs, test results and deliveries meet the specified technical requirements and contractual commitments.
Your main responsibilities:
Provide qualified technical support on HVDC systems and related electrical power engineering issues.
Review designs and verify that technical solutions meet the project’s requirements.
Review and analyse test results from factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).
Follow up on the supplier’s commitments, deliveries and progress against established schedules.
Work with control systems, operating and indication systems, relay protection and automation systems.
Review measurement systems, signals, alarm and event management, and auxiliary power systems.
Follow up on installation principles, primary equipment, energy metering and technical documentation.
Identify, document and follow up on technical deficiencies and deviations from contractual requirements.
Witness and participate in testing at suppliers’ premises and commissioning sites.
Support technical investigations into disturbances, faults and other operational events.
Document experience and contribute to knowledge transfer between projects and the operations organisation.

✅ Mandatory qualifications
Extensive experience and specialist expertise in HVDC, High Voltage Direct Current.
Good understanding of high-voltage installations and the technical design of converter stations.
Experience of control systems, protection systems, control systems and HMI solutions.
Knowledge of relay protection, automation systems, measurement systems and signal handling.
Experience of technical reviews, requirements follow-up and analysis of test results.
Ability to follow up on technical deliveries, identify deviations and ensure compliance with contracts.
Experience of working with plant suppliers, project organisations and technical specialists.
Ability to work independently and in a structured way, with a clear overall perspective.
Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

⭐ Desirable experience
Experience of large HVDC projects and converter stations.
In-depth detailed knowledge of supplier-specific control, protection and HMI systems.
Experience of factory acceptance testing (FAT), system testing (SAT) and commissioning of high-voltage installations.
Experience of technical fault investigations and analysis of disturbances in operational installations.
Experience of supplier follow-up, technical documentation reviews and quality assurance of contracts.
Experience of international projects and technical collaboration with suppliers outside Sweden.
