Automation Sub-Project Manager

About the role
Hykmann Global Business Solutions AB is looking for an experienced sub-project manager in automation for a qualified consultancy assignment in energy and combined heat and power generation.
12 months with an option to extend by 12 months
Would you like to lead technically complex investment and development projects at industrial facilities? In this role, you will have central responsibility for the automation area, from defining requirements and procurement to technical verification and commissioning.
We are looking for someone who combines solid automation expertise with project management experience and can independently drive technical deliveries, focusing on quality, safety, cost and operational reliability.
📅 Assignment period: 12 months, with an option for a further 12 months

🔧 About the assignment
As sub-project manager in automation, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the automation area in investment and development projects within combined heat and power, energy or the process industry.
You will work closely with project management, technical specialists, contractors and technology suppliers to ensure that technical solutions meet the organisation’s requirements and can be implemented safely and efficiently.
Your main responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the automation work in investment and development projects.
Drive the work from defining requirements and procurement through to implementation, verification and commissioning.
Prepare, review and quality-assure equipment lists, functional descriptions, tender documents and other technical documentation.
Ensure that suppliers understand the technical requirements and how the solutions are to be implemented at the facility.
Monitor technical quality, costs, schedule and progress within the sub-project.
Coordinate work between the project organisation, technical specialists, contractors and suppliers.
Participate in or lead the verification, testing and commissioning of automation systems.
Contribute to safe, reliable and cost-effective technical solutions.
Ensure that deliveries are verified against established requirements and technical specifications.
Skills & requirements
✅ Mandatory qualifications
Education and experience
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent relevant education.
Approximately 5–10 years of relevant experience in automation, with a background in combined heat and power, energy, heavy process industry or other industrial operations.
Documented experience of sub-project management and technical coordination in the automation field.
Good understanding of automation systems and processes in power and heat production.
Experience of procurement, investment calculations, construction contract law and work environment issues.
Technical expertise
Good knowledge of instrumentation and control engineering.
Good understanding of modern IT and communications technology, including virtual networks and virtual servers.
Experience of modern DCS, SCADA and PLC systems, for example ABB 800xA, Siemens PCS 7 or T3000.
Knowledge of building automation systems.
Experience of preparing or defining requirements for equipment lists, functional descriptions, tender documents and other technical documents.
Ability to verify technical deliveries against specified requirements.
Experience of leading or participating in commissioning.
Language and other requirements
Very good spoken and written Swedish and English.
B driving licence (B-körkort).
