Zoo euthanizes entire wolf pack after conflicts

Odin, Nuna, Minimus, Tiberius and Maximus were reportedly euthanized after increased conflicts within the herd.

The wolves turned on and began attacking one another, according to the Wildwood Trust near Canterbury.

“Wolves are highly social animals that live in complex family structures, and when that dynamic is broken, conflict and rejection can increase,” said park director Paul Whitfield in a statement.

“In this case, it led to concerns for animal welfare and an unacceptable risk of serious harm.”

Euthanasia was “the absolute last resort,” Whitfield emphasized, according to CNN.
