"It's a fantastic feeling and a great honour to be here. I'm very happy. As a former athlete, I think the Olympics are a wonderful thing. It's not my sport, but I'm a big fan," he told the newspaper Repubblica.
A total of 10,001 people will have carried the torch before the Olympic flame is lit at tonight's opening ceremony at San Siro, the former home ground of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
