The brothers were born and raised in Sweden, but while older brother Arbër chose to play football for Kosovo, younger brother Besfort is betting on Sweden. Already in September, in the World Championship qualifiers' second match, the nations will face each other in Pristina.
We had a dream of playing together and we've done that now (in the club team Elfsborg). Maybe we'll meet in the national team match. Of course, you hope so, says Besfort, selected for the Swedish national team for the first time.
And what about mom and dad? Besfort gives a hint that the solution might be for both to wear jerseys with a fifty-fifty mix of Sweden and Kosovo.
Over the moon about the chance
While Arbër has collected a considerable number of national team matches, Besfort is waiting for his national team debut. Maybe it will come as early as Saturday, in this year's first national team match against Luxembourg away?
However, he is "over the moon" about being part of the national team in Marbella. It didn't get any worse with childhood friend Anthony Elanga also being on the spot. That two buddies from the same youth team reach the national team is unusual.
I won't lie, I didn't believe it, says Besfort Zeneli when he looks back on the years around 2010.
Maintained contact
We played together from when we were 7-8 years old to 10-11 when he moved to England. We've maintained contact, but it's been a long time since we saw each other and I'm incredibly happy to be here.
Just as happy is Anthony Elanga.
It was really fun to see him and hopefully we can do something together in the national team. I hope he gets to play and hopefully we'll play together. It would be great for me and my family and his too.
When Aftonbladet's reporter shows Elanga a picture of him and Zeneli together as kids, Elanga laughs heartily.
I remember that. I think it was in Boråshallen. Look at my hair!
Elanga has a Balotelli-style haircut, shaved high up on the sides and a strand of hair on the scalp.
That honors Balotelli, he was my favorite, says Elanga.
Besfort Zeneli about the "frill":
Crazy. Totally insane, actually. He had many different haircuts but it suited him, says Zeneli.
