"Today we visited the Donetsk region, our country, and our warriors," Zelenskyy wrote on Friday on the X platform.
At the same time, he published a video from the town of Druzhkivka, just over a mile from the direct front line.
The visit comes as Ukrainian military forces try to bolster frontline operations. The Russian offensive is considered to have stalled, according to assessments by the American think tank ISW. Russian ground successes in February have been among the smallest in scale in the past two years.
“The Russians are not abandoning the war, and here in Donetsk they are preparing a spring offensive,” Zelenskyy noted.
