Zelenskyy emphasizes in his post that Ukraine is defending Europe by fighting back against the Russian invasion.
The statement comes just days after German Chancellor Friedrich Merz proposed that Ukraine become an "associate member" of the EU without voting rights, but with a seat at summits and in the European Parliament, as lengthy negotiations are underway for full membership.
Zelenskyy does not think a trial membership is enough.
"Without Ukraine, there can be no full-fledged European cooperation, and Ukraine's presence in the EU must also be complete," he adds.
