Zelenskyy's statement on Monday came as the summit began in Evian-Les-Bains, France.
Zelenskyy stated that Moscow was “not ready” for such a meeting.
"We left - before the G7 meeting began - a message that we were ready to meet with Putin during the meeting," Zelenskyy said in connection with his visit to the world heritage-listed monastery in Kyiv that was severely damaged in Russian attacks.
The move came as US President Donald Trump arrived at the summit.
The G7 group includes, in addition to France and the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Canada and Japan, as well as a representative of the EU.
