"Russia responded only with new attacks and assaults. Throughout the day, almost every hour, reports of attacks have been coming in from different regions of Ukraine," Zelenskyy said in a video statement about Wednesday's attacks.
"Ukraine will act in the same way. Depending on the situation overnight and tomorrow, we will also determine our fully justified responses," he continued.
Russia, as in previous years of the war, has, on its own initiative, declared a ceasefire for the annual Victory Day celebrations on May 9 and the day before - a major Russian holiday that is usually marked with military parades in Moscow.
Zelenskyy responded by declaring his own 24-hour ceasefire, which would begin at midnight on Wednesday.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday evening that all countries with diplomatic missions in Kyiv should evacuate their embassy staff from the Ukrainian capital in advance in case Ukraine tries to disrupt the Victory Day celebrations, TASS reported.
