Sweden's youth clinics should develop and become more equal to promote young people's mental health.

The government is tasking the Public Health Agency (FHM) and the National Board of Health and Welfare to develop Sweden's youth clinics and come up with proposals on how the clinics can become more equal.

It looks extremely different in different places in the country. The youth clinics are aimed at different ages and target groups. We are not using the capacity that exists in a good way, says Minister of Social Affairs Jacob Forssmed (KD).

In addition to the assignment of youth clinics, the government also assigns the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Board of Health and Welfare to increase knowledge about the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Furthermore, the State Commission for Medical and Social Evaluation (SBU) is tasked with improving knowledge about eating disorders, primarily Orthorexia, which can be described as compulsive healthiness.

We see that this is an area where there is potential for improvement, says Forssmed.

According to Jacob Forssmed, the government is investing more money in mental health than any government has ever done before.
