It's no fun news. Whatever decision you take, you're going to make someone disappointed, says Patrik Schultz, the festival's CEO, to Borlänge Tidning. The actual decision is based on the latest media reporting and the subsequent reactions connected to it, says Schultz further, but does not want to comment on whether there is a current threat to the festival.
Cancelled in Umeå
Yasin's performance at Brännbollsyran in Umeå was recently cancelled after the police revealed a murder plan against the rapper and arrested two people. It would have been his first performance in nearly a decade.
“This is not my decision and I share your disappointment. I was still looking forward to standing on stage and meeting you despite the circumstances. Thank you to all who have shown love and looked forward to the performance, it means a lot,” Yasin wrote on Instagram in connection with the cancellation of the performance in Umeå.
Hunt for a replacement
Alive-festivalen is now looking for an artist to fill Yasin's gap in the festival schedule.
The decision was just made so we have no information yet, but we will find a replacement act. There are a few interesting acts, but it will be difficult to find an artist as big and popular as him, says Patrik Schultz.
Yasin is booked for Trädgårdenfestivalen in Kristianstad on August 30.
Yasin is one of Sweden's most controversial, but also most influential, rappers. He has previously been sentenced to prison for preparation of human trafficking and for serious firearms offenses.
