Bullying and condemnation only lead to being isolated. It is the Chinese leader Xi Jinping's first public comment after the tariff deal with the USA.

In a speech at a summit in Beijing, Xi does not mention President Donald Trump, but clearly refers to the trade war the latter initiated a few months ago.

There are no winners in trade wars or trade wars, says Xi, according to news agency reports.

The one who bullies will be isolated, Xi means with a clear jab at Trump. But the danger is great for everyone.

The world is going through rapid transformations, unseen for a century, with many risks that interact with each other.

At the summit with, among others, Brazil's President Lula da Silva, cooperation between China and Latin America is strengthened - including in the economic area, which is seen as a clear signal to the USA.

China has already surpassed the USA as a trading partner for several South American countries, among other things, have a significant role in the electrification of traffic, with large orders for electric buses to countries such as Chile and Colombia.

Xi's speech comes a day after an agreement Trump called "a total reset". It involves pausing the extremely high tariffs, over 100 percent, recently introduced between the countries, pending a new trade agreement.

The tariff pause means that Trump has now backed down from large parts of the trade policy he has had as a flagship issue since he took office in January. Internationally, it is described as a clear retreat from the US government's side and a signal of strength for China.
