World's oldest Olympic winner dies

French cyclist Charles Coste won Olympic gold in the 1948 Summer Games in London. Now the world's oldest Olympic winner has passed away, at the age of 101.

Charles Coste was 24 years old when he won Olympic gold for France in the track cycling team pursuit. For his achievement, he was given the honor of carrying the Olympic torch when the Paris Games opened in the summer of 2024, reports Expressen .

"At the age of 101, he leaves behind an enormous sporting legacy. My thoughts go out to his family, to the cycling community and to everyone who sees in his life's journey a role model in endurance," writes France's Sports Minister Marina Ferrari on X.
