Young women with an immigrant background are the group that to the greatest extent continues to study after high school, according to Statistics Sweden's (SCB) figures from 2023, reports SVT Väst.

Among Swedish-born women with two foreign-born parents, 62 percent of 25-year-olds have begun a Swedish higher education.

For foreign-born individuals who have immigrated more than six years ago, the figure for 25-year-old women is 57 percent, and for Swedish-born women with two Swedish-born parents, 55 percent of the group has begun a higher education.

Men generally continue to study to a lesser extent than women, and none of the groups reach the same proportion as comparable women, according to SCB.

The proportion of young Swedish-born women with two foreign-born parents who begin higher studies has increased from 37 percent to 62 percent between 2004 and 2023.

The proportion of women with a Swedish background has increased marginally from 52 percent to 55 percent during the same period.
