A woman has been convicted of secretly photographing elderly people at a nursing home in Karlskrona. She was also convicted of filming a dead person being poked in the eye, local media reports.

The woman, who is in her 40s, worked as a temporary care worker in Karlskrona. When the photos were discovered, she lost her job.

A number of surreptitious photos and videos that she had taken at work were found on her phone. The woman had photographed elderly people in vulnerable situations, including in the cafeteria and in the toilet.

On one occasion, she had filmed another person poking a deceased woman in the eye.

The woman, who denies the crime, was convicted of 26 counts of offensive photography and breach of the peace. She was given a suspended sentence and daily fines and must also pay compensation to some of the elderly people affected.
