A wolf has been shot after it came too close to a dog handler, writes the County Administrative Board of Skåne in a press release.

The incident occurred in connection with hunting in Osby municipality on Sunday.

"The dog handler fired warning shots but the wolf still showed interest in the dog. The wolf came very close to the dog handler and dog and was shot at a distance of about six meters", says Nils Carlsson at the County Administrative Board.

The County Administrative Board has investigated the incident and makes the assessment that the wolf has been put down in accordance with the hunting ordinance.

The wolf is a male and will be sent to the National Veterinary Institute for identification.
