101 Russian military personnel have been identified in the newspaper's review, where they are accused of murder, abuse and torture, among other things.
Among other things, soldiers who refuse to fight in Ukraine are being subjected to this.
“A popular way to get rid of a troublesome soldier is to send them on an attack where survival is almost impossible, often without body armor or weapons,” writes the news site Vjorstka .
The investigation, based on testimonies from soldiers with front-line experience, relatives and official documents, shows that commanders have ordered drone operators to kill their own soldiers. Some have also reportedly appointed “executioners” to open fire on their own soldiers.
The dead have since been reported as killed in combat.
Soldiers testify that soldiers who have disobeyed orders have been thrown into pits, beaten for hours, and in some cases forced to fight each other – to the death.
The newspaper has verified at least 150 deaths.
Vjorstka, who operates in exile, also reports on commanders demanding money from subordinates to avoid suicide missions.
The Kremlin has repeatedly denied reports of a lack of discipline among Russian soldiers. Most of the 101 servicemen identified by the newspaper are mid-level officers in their 30s and 40s.
