In a statement, JNIM said they attacked, among other things, the home of military junta leader Assimi Goïta.
Earlier on Saturday, the Tuareg group FLA, which calls for an independent state in the country's north, also claimed to have taken control of the city of Kidal.
Gunfire was heard around the capital, Bamako, where Goïta lives, witnesses and a security source told AFP. Gunfire was also reported near Bamako airport, about 15 kilometers from the city center.
The attacks are described as some of the most complex the military has faced since taking power after double coups in 2020 and 2021.
