Winter is about to take its frosty grip across the country. Snow could fall from north to south in the coming week. For those who haven't yet switched to winter tires, now is the time.

"It's cold air that's spread across the country, it's significantly colder than it was earlier this week. And the cold air will stay here all next week as it looks right now," says Caroline Vahlberg, meteorologist at SMHI.

At night, you can expect sub-zero temperatures throughout the country, and in the north even during the day. In southern Sweden, daytime temperatures are around zero or the occasional plus degree.

Already on Saturday, snow flurries are drifting in over the Norrland mountains and snowfall is passing eastward over parts of Norrland. From Monday afternoon, snow flurries may move in over the Uppland coast and Stockholm County, but it is uncertain how widespread it will be and how large the amounts may be.

During Thursday, a snowfall area may move in over Götaland and Svealand, according to SMHI.

It is still very uncertain, but you have to prepare for snow even in southern Sweden this week. The recommendation is of course that you put on winter tires if you haven't already, says Caroline Vahlberg.

SMHI's forecasts extend ten days into the future. According to Vahlberg, the cold air looks set to remain until November 24th.
