The allegedly heavily armed Dezi Freeman, who in connection with a house search on Tuesday is said to have shot and killed two police officers and shot and injured a third near Porepunkah in the Australian Alps, is believed to be hiding in the Australian wilderness after fleeing the crime scene.
Five days after the deed, the suspected police murderer's wife, 42-year-old Amalia Freeman, appeals to her husband on Sunday to contact the police. She urges him to surrender himself, according to a statement conveyed by her lawyer to the Australian media.
At the same time, she says that she gives her full support to the police in the hunt for her husband and that she will cooperate with the police fully.
"Please Dezi, if you see or hear this, call 000 (the emergency number in Australia) and make a plan to surrender to the police", she writes.
More than 450 police officers have been involved in the hunt for the suspected police murderer. He is used to moving in the wilderness and has good knowledge of the area where he is assumed to be.
In the Australian media, Dezi Freeman is described as a radicalized conspiracy theorist. He is said to be a member of a movement that calls itself "sovereign citizens", which does not recognize state authorities and does not think it needs to follow laws and rules.
