The Kamal Adwan Hospital is "now empty", reported the UN agency WHO on Saturday afternoon. The message came after intense Israeli raids on the hospital in northern Gaza.
"Last night, 15 patients in critical condition, 50 people caring for them, and 20 healthcare workers were transferred to the Indonesian hospital, which lacks necessary equipment and access (to medicine and medical supplies) to provide proper care", writes WHO in a statement.
"Hideout for terrorists"
The Israeli military claims that the attack was targeted at the terrorist-stamped Hamas with a presence at the hospital. In a statement, it is stated, among other things, that the hospital is used as a "hideout for terrorists".
On Saturday afternoon, Israel also confirmed that the hospital director had been detained. Furthermore, Israel has detained over "240 terrorists" in connection with the operation.
The hospital director and a dozen employees have been taken to a detention center where they will be interrogated, according to the health department in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
Series of raids
Israel's military operations are the latest in a series of attacks targeting or carried out near the Kamal Adwan Hospital since the beginning of October, according to WHO.
"Such attacks and raids undermine all our efforts and support to keep the facility minimally operational. The systematic dismantling of the healthcare system in Gaza is a death sentence for tens of thousands of Palestinians in need of medical care", writes WHO on X.
