Gaza's Hamas-led health department reports on Saturday afternoon that the Israeli forces have now left Kamal Adwan hospital.
Israel's military took control of the hospital on Friday as part of its week-long offensive in northern Gaza, reports AFP.
Later in the evening, the World Health Organization's Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated on X that the hospital was still under siege.
Gaza: Hundreds detained
"Three healthcare workers and one employee have been injured, 44 healthcare workers have been detained and four ambulances have been damaged", he wrote.
Gaza's health department accuses Israel of detaining hundreds and reports that two children have been killed during the raid.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warns that the situation is catastrophic in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, where "intensive military operations are ongoing around and within healthcare facilities".
Stormed hospital
"The situation in northern Gaza is catastrophic", he writes on X and warns that "a critical shortage of medical supplies, exacerbated by severely limited access, is depriving people of life-saving care".
He specifically pointed to the situation at Kamal Adwan hospital.
During the year-long war between Israel and Hamas, Israeli forces have stormed and bombed several hospitals, including Gaza's largest healthcare facility, Shifa hospital. Israel accuses Hamas of using healthcare facilities in Gaza for military purposes, an accusation that the terrorist-designated group denies.
