The board controlling the app in the USA will consist of seven seats and six of these will be Americans, said the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in an interview with Fox on Saturday.
She also claimed that an agreement can be completed ”in the coming days”.
On Friday, the President of the USA Donald Trump spoke with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the phone about Tiktok. Both of them described the conversation as constructive, but no agreement was reached.
The USA has demanded that Tiktok's Chinese owner Bytedance sells its American social media business but has on several occasions postponed the deadline for this. Earlier in the week, Donald Trump announced that the latest deadline for the Tiktok agreement between the USA and China is extended to December 16.
On Monday, both parties stated that they have agreed on a ”framework” for the Tiktok agreement but no details have yet been disclosed regarding this.
