Confidence in the future among companies in forestry and agriculture has taken a sharp downward turn, Green Employers' recent report shows.

Joakim Wirén, chief economist at the organization, calls the companies' gloomy outlook for the coming year worrying.

“Profitability is expected to decrease, while staffing is still a major challenge for many farmers and forestry companies,” he says in an email.

The situation is a clear deterioration since last spring, when companies were slightly optimistic. Only one in four companies plans to invest more in 2026 to 2028 than they did in 2023 to 2025. According to Wirén, this risks slowing down modernization in industries that need to invest for the future.

Golf is the only industry that has an upward trend with a clearly positive outlook for 2026. Animal healthcare also continues to see the future positively.

Nearly 1,000 companies organized by Green Employers participated in the survey.

The employers' organization represents companies engaged in agriculture, forestry, animal health care, gardening and golf.
