In six counties – Blekinge, Gotland, Jönköping, Kalmar, Kronoberg and Skåne – low levels are present in both small and large groundwater reservoirs. In addition, flows are low in watercourses.

In Halland and Västra Götaland, levels in small reservoirs and watercourses are low.

According to SMHI, those who have private water from their own or shared well should be frugal with consumption. Low groundwater levels can reduce the well's capacity and worsen water quality, SMHI reminds.

Even households and businesses with private water from lakes or watercourses should think the same thing.

Those who use municipal water should keep an eye out if the municipality issues restrictions and urges measures that save water.

Low water levels can also have a negative impact on plant and animal life as well as on agriculture and in nature in general.
