The ships come from the 1600s and 1700s, among them Hercules, Queen Ulrika Eleonora, Queen Hedvig Eleonora and Uppland. They were sunk during the Great Northern War, which marked the end of the Swedish era of greatness.
The finds are presented in a new report and are part of the research program "The Forgotten Fleet – Sweden's Blue Cultural Heritage 1450–1850" and can provide new insights into a time when Sweden was one of Europe's largest sea powers.
