During the night towards Friday, rain that may be freezing will move in from the southwest, leading to icy conditions when the rain falls on cold road surfaces. Initially, the warning applied to central Norrland, but it has now been expanded, SMHI announced on Thursday evening.
Now there is a warning for northernmost Värmland, northern Dalarna, parts of Jämtland County, Västernorrland County and northernmost Gävleborg County. This warning is valid from midnight until 9 a.m. on Friday morning.
And partly, it is a warning for parts of Västerbotten and the coastal region of Norrbotten – from a bit south of Umeå up to Övertorneå. That warning applies from 6 am to 3 pm on Friday.
SMHI urges road users to drive carefully and adjust their speed.
The authority also warns of delays or cancellations in public transport.
