SMHI has issued an orange warning for high temperatures in parts of Blekinge, Kalmar and Kronoberg counties where temperatures could reach at least 33 degrees for several days. The warning has been in effect since Thursday afternoon and extends until Monday evening.
An orange warning for temperatures above 33 degrees is also in place for additional parts of Blekinge and Kronoberg counties and for Skåne county from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.
A yellow warning for high temperatures is also in place in large parts of Götaland from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, from around Norrköping to northern and central Skåne. In that area, temperatures are expected to reach at least 30 degrees for several consecutive days.
Showers possible
Thursday was hot in the affected areas. Ronneby reached 30.6 degrees and Målilla recorded 29.8 degrees. But the worst of the heat is expected to ease at the beginning of next week, according to Henrik Reimer.
It is highly likely. Showers may also form this weekend, which may dampen the heat in the warm, humid air. Showers may also develop this weekend in northern Svealand and in Norrland.
There will also likely be a clash between warm and cool air as temperatures fall at the beginning of the week. This could trigger showers, according to Henrik Reimer.
From Europe
There is a heat wave in southern Europe, where in some places temperatures have exceeded 40 degrees, and there is a connection between that heat and the heat experienced in Götaland now, according to Henrik Reimer.
The warm air over the continent has lifted warm air that has been allowed to build up over Götaland.
