The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued both yellow and orange warnings for snowfall in combination with wind in large parts of the country for both Monday and Tuesday as a low-pressure system moves in.

This can lead to major problems in traffic and the Swedish Transport Administration is now advising the public to try to reschedule any trips.

"Take the warning seriously and assess how the weather will affect you. Consider safety both for yourself and your fellow road users if you need to venture out on the roads. Even outside the warning period, you as a driver must be prepared for treacherous road conditions. Take no risks and if you have the opportunity to travel already on Sunday - do so", says the Swedish Transport Administration's press chief Bengt Olsson in a press release.

On Saturday, the police reported several traffic accidents around the country. Among other things, three people were injured in a crash in Nacka outside Stockholm involving a total of four vehicles. In Trelleborg, a car drove off the road and into a fence, and the driver was taken to hospital. And outside Ulricehamn, two people were slightly injured after a crash.
