The police should be able to demand that films and images with illegal content be taken down, otherwise the platforms risk fines of between 5,000 and 5 million kronor.
The Social Democrats have demanded that the law be expedited so that the summer holidays do not become a "recruitment party" for the gangs.
The government submitted a notification to the European Commission on 2 April because the law affects the free movement of services within the EU. The Commission is expected to respond within two weeks, which could mean the end of this week.
The Commission can then either announce a three-month freeze period during which the legislation cannot be adopted, or, as the government wants, decide that the freeze does not apply and that the law can be implemented earlier.
The law, which is the first of its kind in the EU, is scheduled to come into effect on September 1 this year. It is unclear how much faster it could go if the EU gives the green light, according to the Ministry of Justice.
