They are veterans in the humor industry – but have never stood on stage together. Now Pernilla Wahlgren and Christine Meltzer meet in a farce where literally everything collapses around them.

They have bumped into each other in the makeup for some comedy program, cheered each other on in Melodifestivalen when Pernilla Wahlgren competed and Christine Meltzer was the host and "maybe dressed up together".

The farce "The Play That Goes to Hell", directed by Klas Wiljergård, will be the duo's first real collaboration - but it's as if they already know each other. Maybe because they are quite alike.

We have an easy laugh and are at the same time flaky, but maybe not when we work - but yes, we are that too. Flaky and nonsense, that's our thing. Not everyone dares to be flaky and it's very liberating when it's dared, says Pernilla Wahlgren.

Everything Goes Wrong

In 2023, she played in "Peter Pan Goes to Hell", written by the same British team behind the new production. This time, the audience follows a theater company that tries to put on a murder mystery - but already at the first line, it starts to go wrong and in the end, the entire set collapses around the actors.

Everything goes to hell, summarizes Christine Meltzer.

The company on stage gets a seasoned comedy gang with, among others, Måns Nathanaelson, Kim Sulocki, Andreas T Olsson, and Anastasios Soulis. And after a playing period at Göta Lejon in Stockholm with a premiere on 1/23, it goes on tour in the country.

It's something Pernilla is used to, I, on the other hand, am very unusual, says Christine Meltzer.

I love being on tour. You know what, it's like being at adult camp, replies Pernilla Wahlgren. You travel with your funniest friends and just laugh and giggle and then you get paid. It's incredible!

"Is incredibly cool"

In what other ways are they alike? Both care about family life, but also think it's important to have a career of their own. And both now have adult daughters - influencer and host Bianca Ingrosso and artist Ida-Lova - who in their own way are as well-known as their mothers.

- It was cool last summer when Ida-Lova visited "Allsången" and she is incredibly cool. I just wanted to ask her how it is to grow up as a celebrity child because I can relate to it, but she didn't want such questions and then I respected that, says Pernilla Wahlgren.
