Sofia Goggia was in a class of her own when she won Saturday's downhill in the World Championship in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The Italian won in front of the home crowd on next year's Olympic Games slope, 42 hundredths ahead of Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and 55 hundredths ahead of another Italian, Federica Brignone.
It didn't go as well for Lindsey Vonn. The 40-year-old American has delivered sensationally good results in her World Championship comeback – fourth in super-G, sixth in downhill – but couldn't follow it up in Saturday's competition.
Vonn, who has twelve wins in Cortina over the years, finished in 20th place, 1.68 behind Goggia.
