In Sweden, 4,523 cars are covered by the recall, PR manager Magnus Holst tells a car magazine.
This concerns the Volvo XC40 T4 and T5 Plug-in Hybrid models from the 2020, 2021 and 2022 model years.
Volvo says the cause is a serious manufacturing defect in the car's high-voltage battery. Volvo states that the defect may become apparent when the battery pack is fully charged.
The cars should only be driven on gasoline until they have been checked by an authorized workshop or until Volvo provides an official update.
