At the end of June, Venezuela was hit by powerful earthquakes, which destroyed numerous buildings and have so far claimed the lives of more than 4,500 people.
Despite the disaster, the country's crude oil production is intact, Rodríguez says.
Production, the country's main source of income, is concentrated in Lake Maracaibo in the northwest and the Orinoco belt in the east. The area hardest hit by the earthquakes lies between the two regions, according to AFP.
Rodríguez says Venezuela currently produces approximately 1.2 million barrels of oil per day.
