Vice President J.D. Vance will visit Orbán on April 7-8, the White House announced, according to AFP. Vance will then "speak about the rich partnership between the United States and Hungary," the statement said.
Viktor Orbán, leader of the nationalist right-wing party Fidesz, has recently received repeated verbal support from President Donald Trump.
After 16 years in power, Orbán faces one of his biggest political challenges yet. Challenger Péter Magyar and his socially conservative Tisza party have a clear advantage in opinion polls.
While Orbán increasingly looks east toward Russia, Magyar wants to steer Hungary back toward the EU.
