The 37-year-old Ukrainian dominated and set the pace in the super fight and was awarded the victory by a unanimous jury with the numbers 116-112.
He's a fantastic fighter. A fantastic performance, said Usyk about 36-year-old Tyson Fury, after having defeated him for the second time in a row.
Thus, Usyk has defended and retained his WBA-, WBO- and WBC-belts.
Also in May, Usyk stood as the winner against Fury after twelve rounds, then after a disputed verdict. Usyk was the first to beat Fury and became, with the victory, the first undisputed heavyweight champion with all the belts in 24 years.
Crashed the interview
It's a title he later lost, as he didn't take on the challenger Daniel Dubois for the IBF-belt. Usyk, who had already beaten Dubois in 2023, chose instead to focus on giving Fury, 36, a chance for revenge.
Incredible 24 rounds for my career, stated Usyk after the night's victory.
Now Dubois is seeking his revenge. After the night's match in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the Brit crashed Usyk's victory interview in the ring.
I want to take my revenge, said Dubois after grabbing the microphone.
Your Excellency, let me fight with Daniel, replied Usyk, not seemingly impressed by Dubois' courage.
Zelenskyj: "So important"
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj conveys his congratulations in a statement.
"Victory! So important and so necessary for us all now", writes Zelenskyj and continues:
"The ring, the battlefield or the diplomatic arena – we fight and we will not give up ours."
Usyk now has 23–0 in matches, with 14 wins by knockout.
Corrected: In an earlier version, an incorrect description of Usyk's championship title occurred.
