The aircraft carrier traveled to the Persian Gulf region in January to support the United States' upcoming war against Iran.
The ship has about 5,000 crew members, but conditions on board have caused hardship and tragedy. The ship's kitchen ran out of food. The toilets were broken, and the water was contaminated. There were also reports of mental illness aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, as several people attempted to jump overboard.
After months of war, the crew was allowed ashore in Thailand, near the resort town of Pattaya, but with extensive restrictions on what they could do.
But there's no place like home, and on Thursday, relatives were waiting to welcome the sailors.
