The department says the companies may have violated federal competition laws when they paused their coverage after President Trump barred CNN, MS Now and Politico from the White House, citing their “constant reporting of fake news.”

Several other companies, including Fox News, chose not to follow the president, in solidarity with the media outlets that had been blocked.

The media outlets take turns covering the president, and the material is then shared among the different media companies.

A judge has overturned the decision, giving the media outlets the green light to enter the White House again.
