The US military has posted a short video clip on social media showing a large explosion and a boat on fire.
“Confirmed intelligence” had indicated that the boat was being used to smuggle drugs, it said. The boat was also said to have travelled along a known smuggling route.
More than 200 people have been killed in US attacks on small boats in the waters off its coast. The attacks are said to be aimed at “narco-terrorists,” providing a justification for the use of military force. After some of the attacks, it has been reported that the victims were civilians.
