Tuva Björk's "Fear Fokol" was named the best Swedish short film when the winners were crowned in the 44th edition of the Uppsala Short Film Festival on Saturday.
"With a sharp eye and courage, the director examines themes such as privilege, fear and race, and exposes the contradictions in a society that is still haunted by the structures of apartheid", the jury writes in its motivation.
In the international competition section, the Portuguese film "Sabura" by Falcão Nhaga is awarded the Grand Prix.
The two films thus have the chance to be nominated for an Oscar since the festival is recognized by the American Film Academy.
