Up to 30 soldiers have been killed in an Islamist suicide attack in northeastern Nigeria, according to sources within the country's military.
The attack took place on Friday, in connection with a Nigerian military offensive against Islamist groups in the troubled states of Borno and Yobe.
The suicide attack was one of the deadliest in recent years, where low-intensity fighting is ongoing between military forces and terrorist groups.
The suicide bomber had hidden their vehicle in dense bushes near a road, and then rammed a military column on the move. The military suspects that the Islamist group ISWAP, with ties to the terrorist organization IS, was behind the attack.
