They will be presented on the three-year anniversary of Russia's attack on and full-scale invasion of Ukraine, announces Foreign Minister David Lammy in a statement.

He says, according to AFP, that it's time to increase the pressure on President Vladimir Putin's Russia.

"Tomorrow, I intend to present the most comprehensive sanctions package against Russia since the early days of the war", says Lammy.

The sanctions aim to grind down Russia's military apparatus and cut off revenues that Russia needs to pay for the war in Ukraine.

He claims that Ukraine, the UK, and the rest of Europe are facing a decisive, historic moment.

"It's high time to increase our support for Ukraine", emphasizes Lammy.

Lammy's boss, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, is to meet with US President Trump at the White House on Thursday.

The UK has already introduced sanctions against around 1,900 individuals and organizations linked to President Putin's regime, and against actors in the energy sector, the military, and other parts of Russian society, since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

EU countries will make a decision on a new sanctions package against Russian interests on the three-year anniversary, including the import of aluminum.
