Even though more food is now reaching the starving population in bombed-out Gaza, the needs are still urgent, the UN notes.
"Despite significant progress in scaling up humanitarian efforts, the urgent needs of people remain enormous as obstacles have not been lifted quickly enough since the ceasefire (October 10)," said spokesperson Farhan Haq.
He regrets that emergency aid is only being allowed in through two border crossings, and that there is no direct access to either northern Gaza from Israel or southern Gaza via Egypt. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has called for all border crossings to be opened to allow for the rapid entry of sufficient aid.
