The fire is now extinguished, but they are searching the construction, says Sebastian Benitez, the emergency services' alarm operator to SVT.
The alarm about the fire came in at around 20:30. It concerned an empty old industrial building in the Böleäng area, approximately 70 by 40 meters in size. "The rescue leader urges everyone in the area to go indoors and close doors, windows, and ventilation," was part of the VMA.
A large number of units from the emergency services were sent to the building. An ambulance was also alerted, reported Västerbottens-Kuriren.
According to the emergency services, there was no risk of the fire spreading to other buildings, but they worked to prevent the entire industrial building from catching fire.
The industrial building is located adjacent to Volvo's facility in Umeå.
